What size is a double bed in metric?

double bedding

Its annoying me at this stage, i live in a country (Éire / Ireland) where we’re taught to ignore imperial measurements and use metric only but then i go looking to buy double bedding or a double bed (standard in US?) its in imperial. so could anyone give me an idea of the size width and length of a double bed and double bedding in metric meters?

  • Teresa Murray:

the mattress size for the US Australia and the UK is

    imperial is 54″” x 75″”
    metric is 1.38 × 1.90 m
    (width × length)

but in Europe the size is
    imperial is 55″ × 79″
    metric is 1.4 × 2 m

hope you get the double bedding you want

    thanks

    Mick

    Its 135cm x 190cm

The site below also has a comparison chart of the three main regions.

The reason for the imperial measurements is as we are lamped in with the UK and they still use imperial far too much.
